Considering Academy Conversion?
As a key part of our community, our team has a great deal of experience in working with schools, colleges and in the Further Education and Higher Education sector. This means that if you are considering converting into an Academy, we have the right legal skills combined with a passion and understanding of your sector and those you work with to help you with your conversion.
Pre Academy Conversion
Our team will be with you every step of the way. Whether you are just exploring the option of Academy conversion or want to get your school “ship shape” before embarking on the conversion process, we will be happy to meet with you and take you through the process.
Conversion
We will work with you on all the legal agreements involved in the Academy conversion including:-
- Setting up the new Academy
- Funding Agreement
- Transfer Agreement
- Transferring existing contracts
- Land transfers or leasing
- Transfer of staff (TUPE)
- Assistance with DfE forms
We will ensure that the legal’s are not viewed in isolation and explain exactly what they mean in plain English, helping you tailor them to your School and Academy conversion. As part of our service we liaise with the Department for Education for the approval of all documentation and also with other stakeholders such as the Local Authority or Diocese (as relevant). This means that you can proceed with your conversion in the shortest possible timescale.
After Conversion
Even after conversion we are still at your side. Your new Academy may want to continue to work with the Local Authority for legal and other support and set up new Service Level Agreements for this - we have huge amount of experience in doing this.
Alternatively you may want to explore a move away from the Local Authority and, if so, we are happy to discuss longer term arrangements for supporting the Academy with legal advice and explore retainer options.
