DIVORCE

Whilst divorce can be a very stressful time for anyone involved, actually getting divorced is usually quite straightforward – particularly if the couple agree that the marriage is over.

The difficulties tend to lie in related issues, such as arrangements for children and finances.

No two divorces are identical, so it is important to get impartial advice on your actual circumstances. Whilst it is important to have the love and understanding of friends and relatives it is not always wise to take advice from someone who, although they have your best interests at heart, may not be able to offer totally independent guidance.

If you have been married for a year and either of you has been resident in England and Wales during the last year you can commence divorce proceedings. It does not matter if your marriage was not in England and Wales.
