Coffin Mew Family team raise funds for Honeypot charity
Coffin Mew LLP held their 4th annual charity quiz to raise funds for the Honeypot charity on 24th February. Due to the success of the previous 3 quizzes, the firm chose to move venues this year from the usual Portsmouth Rugby Club to Kams Palace in Park Gate.
The number of entrants almost doubled from previous years as 41 eager teams competed head-to-head in the Quiz organised by the firm’s Family department. Honeypot is a South of England based charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for severely disadvantaged children.
The event was coordinated by Tina Day and Sally Pike from Coffin Mew’s Family team. Hosted by Kams Palace, the generosity of the businesses and organisations that supported the evening raised over £2,100 for Honeypot. A hard fought 10 round quiz saw a team from CW Fellowes take the laurels, with second place going to RSM Tenon.
The Honeypot relationship with each individual child (aged 5 to 12) begins with a respite break at Honeypot House in the beautiful New Forest and continues with a comprehensive programme of long- term support within their home environment.
Sally said: “As a large Family team in a regional practice, we are delighted to support a charity that has the family at its heart and is based in our region. The fourth quiz night was a huge success thanks to the fantastic support from the businesses and organisations that our firm deals with on a day by day basis.”
Tina, who is also an ambassador for the charity added: “Honeypot is currently supporting 794 children providing respite breaks, visits from the play bus and a Christmas present. The generosity of businesses and guests has been overwhelming and the funds raised will support nearly three Honeypot children for the year. We are delighted as a firm to make such an important contribution.”
Karen Betancourt-Jess, Regional Fundraising Manager for Honeypot commented “For a child who has never been to the countryside before, coming to Honeypot House is something new and exciting. Activities such as riding a bike, making a cake, paddling at the beach, painting a picture or playing in safety out in the fresh air are often experienced for the first time.”
